Aims and campaigns |
We are one of the very few Unemployed Centres in the country which are independent of the Council and State. In 1997 we split from the Council/Lottery-funded Unemployed Centre Families Project when the majority of people in the Families Project agreed to the Council dictat and turned the Centre into a charity rather than a campaigning organisation. We do not believe that unemployment is a charitable issue but one where the unemployed themselves have to organise and campaign against the attacks against them. We are particularly active in campaigns against The All-Work Test. We work closely with Brighton Against Benefit Cuts.
